Senior Communications Officer/U.S. and Global Communications Officer
Shilpi is responsible for the development and implementation of communications strategies that advance the goals of the #breakfreefromplastic glob
Prior to joining The Story of Stuff Project, Shilpi worked at Mission Blue | Sylvia Earle Alliance to further their mission of igniting public support for a global network of marine protected areas. She comes with a decade of experience in ocean advocacy and conservation policy including coalition building around plastic waste prevention.
She holds a Master’s degree in Earth and Environmental Resources Management, with a concentration in marine affairs from the University of South Carolina, and a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science and Policy from Virginia Tech University. Her writing has been published in The Economist; Yes! magazine; the Stanford Journal of Law, Science & Policy; Huffington Post, and National Geographic Ocean Views.
Asia Pacific Communications Officer
Jed is Asia Pacific’s Regional Communications Officer for the #breakfreefromplastic movement. He has worked with several non-government organizations as a media and communications officer and project manager. He holds a masters degree in Development Studies major in Agrarian, Food, and Environmental Studies from the International Institute of Social Studies part of Erasmus University Rotterdam in The Hague, Netherlands.
European Communications Officer
Matt joined the #breakfreefromplastic Communications Hub in July 2017 after 2 years as Communications Officer for Zero Waste Europe. He is based in Manchester, UK, after having lived in Bologna, Italy, working as a freelance campaign communications consultant. Prior to Bologna he worked for People & Planet as a Corporate Power Campaigns Co-ordinator, supporting UK student groups campaigning on workers’ rights in the garments and electronics industries. He has been long been involved in grassroots social movements, and campaigns for social and environmental justice. Matt graduated from the University of Birmingham with a degree in Anthropology and Classical Literature & Civilisations.
